Recipe: The Hudson Standard Shrub Adult Soda

We're kicking off apple season in The Hudson Valley and what better way to celebrate than with a light, refreshing apple shrub soda.  The Hudson Standard shrubs are hand crafted in the Hudson Valley in very small batches and limited quantities.  One taste and you'll see why these shrubs are flying off our shelves!

If you want to kick this mocktail up a notch, the folks over at Hudson Standard suggest adding an ounce of dry vermouth and cutting the seltzer in half for a "Light Shrub Cocktail". Shop the shrubs here and stay tuned all week long for our favorite apple recipes!

Recipe: Grapefruit Shrub and Rosé Popsicles

The dog days of summer are quickly approaching and what better way to cool off than with a traditional treat - the popsicle.  We took this opportunity to try out some delicious cocktail mixers and make a mildly booze-infused version of this frozen summer treat.  Chilled Rosé is a great way to cool off in the summer heat and we thought the color and flavor combination of Liber Grapefruit Shrub would be a worthy pairing.  We also used the Liber Gum Syrup, as any good popsicle needs a bit of sweetening. Treat the proportions with care... too much booze and your pops won't freeze, but just the right amount and you'll be catching a cool refreshing buzz!

Cocktail Recipe: The Southern Michelada

I had a Michelada for the first time at a Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn.  The idea sounded odd to me...mixing tomato juice and beer?  But on that hot sunny day it was downright refreshing.  The lime juice is key here, and adds to the refreshment.  And if you're like me and sometimes find bloody marys to be too thick, this is a great remedy because the beer thins it out.  Also, you're only drinking a portion of a beer in this cocktail, so it's great for sipping and knowing you won't be too tipsy afterwards.  (If you want to increase the alcoholic punch in this drink, try adding a shot of vodka - you'll never taste it!)  So grab your favorite bloody mary (may we recommend Walker's), a 6 pack of light beer, a few limes and get to mixing.
